a pod: the basilisk

Professor: Erin Root
Term: Fall 2016, University of Virginia
Location: Charlottesville, Virginia

The pod consists of 3,000 aluminum cans supported by a rebar grid. By folding the aluminum can opposite the direction of its manufactured shape I created a tensional force throughout the pod to hold the shingled structure together. The interior of the can faces out in order to play with reflection of the sky, water and surrounding building.
